Meet the Team

When we were ready for our team to grow in 2025, we were thrilled to find such amazing people to work with!

We knew Pittsburgh had a special birth community, but we still felt so lucky to come across each and every one of these lovely folks.

We’re so excited about this team of birth and postpartum doulas, and we know you’ll love them too!

Introducing the Riverbend Birth & Postpartum Doulas!

Amy Bornman

Birth Doula

Amy (she/her) is a mom of two and began her journey as a birth doula in 2024. As a poet and author in addition to her birth work, Amy is a particularly thoughtful, reflective doula.

She trained as a doula and childbirth educator through Birthing From Within. She has a strong emphasis on the internal experience of entering parenthood and brings a soulful approach to doula support.

Amy loves to sew and knit her own clothes and her favorite food has been pizza since she was little. You can usually find her reading a novel or making sure her two little boys aren’t getting into too much trouble.

Mahogany Harrington

Postpartum Doula

Pittsburgh Postpartum Doula Mahogany Harrington

Mahogany (she/her) is a Pittsburgh native, a postpartum doula, and a yoga instructor.

She was drawn to birthwork in 2018 after observing how prenatal yoga could ease labor symptoms and, in some cases, significantly shorten active labor. Just before the pandemic in 2020, she chose to formally pursue this path by becoming a prenatal yoga instructor and certifying as a postpartum doula with Cornerstone Birthwork.

Mahogany believes the postpartum period is often overlooked and finds meaning in supporting families during this time. The early months with a new baby are a period of adjustment and learning, and she is honored to be part of that transition.

By profession, Mahogany is an accountant, and she values the duality of structured work and the unpredictable nature of birth work. In her free time, she is usually barefoot—reading, tending to her plants, or experimenting with new recipes.

Katie Klassen

Birth & Postpartum Doula

Katie (she/her) is a seasoned doula, supporting families since 2018. She has a quiet, grounded presence.

Katie has a BA in Psychology and a Certificate in Human Services. In addition to her doula training and education with several different organizations (including Lamaze International), Katie is also a certified Body Ready Method specialist which can come in handy during pregnancy and labor.

She is also a Perinatal Patient Advocate and skilled childbirth educator, and education is foundational to her support.

Katie is a scone master, lover of extreme rollercoasters, and thoroughly enjoys trying new food. She’ll try anything at least once!

Jackie Lamars

Birth & Postpartum Doula

Jackie (she/her) became a doula in 2024 and her joyful spirit is infectious.

Jackie is a birth and postpartum doula and trained with Bebo Mia’s full spectrum doula program. Jackie has a BA in Race and Gender Studies and maintains a focus on justice and peace in her birth work, tying in beautifully with her Quaker background.

In 2025, she also received her yoga teaching certification and currently offers free prenatal yoga classes at The Midwife Center. She also teaches multiple days per week at ASCEND in Point Breeze.

She is a natural with babies and children, and greatly enjoys her postpartum doula work. In her free time, Jackie enjoys creative hobbies, such as making music, screen printing, and comedy writing (she even worked for a comedy newspaper in college!).
